PUB stomping is killing this game.
After academy New players try the game get demolished in PUB then leave.
This is what a death spiral of an MMO FPS looks like.
The Drunk Heavy recognized this problem in one of his videos
CCP recognized this problem before uprising saying that high skill players will be drawn away from PUB matches with Faction Warfare and PC (we all know how well that worked out.)
So here is what we as players can do.
If you have 5 million or more SP spent then stay out of PuB matches. Play faction warfare instead.
This will give breathing room for new players.
Yes you can play in PuBs with your low SP alts. Yes you can hold off on spending SP and stay in PuB matches, and yes iron wolf if you are crazy insane and spend all your SP on all level ones you can stay in pub matches. The rest of you GTFO. Go to faction warfare and fight with your equals.
...
Note: Yeah i know i have dished more sh*t about this game then anyone...still i play the f*cking thing anyway so i guess i should try to help save it. |

OP, I'm not criticizing you, but really, the folks around here think they are doing everyone a favor when the grief on the new players. We aren't playing with a socially adept deck around here.
I have to try or i would hate myself.
Faction warfare was specifically designed by CCP to pull vets from Pubs and fix the problem of Pub stomps chasing away new players.
Well do people who play this game want to keep playing it? Cuz if we don't get in line and start fixing the problem this game is dead as a doornail...and no one will play it. |

I have alts that are sub 3 million SP and I can still hold my own because I know how to play the game, if CCP gave new players the opportunity to learn as well instead of this kiddie table BS before they get thrown to the sharks they would have a chance as well. Want to save newberries? Teach them yourself and stop blaming everyone else because there's nothing better to do but pubstomp because matchmaking was never a priority.
There are already 3 or 4 good corps that do that very thing...far better then i ever could.
...
yet it is not working.
Go ask those corps what new player retention is like. |

At least in PC you can get 700k+ isk... and thats when the enemy doesn't even show up.
You are expecting CCP to save this game. They tried by giving us PC and Faction warfare.
I agree they failed.
But expecting them to fix is is not going to happen....or at least not happen soon enough to matter. |

It's not working because not everyone who cares bothers to help. You don't even have to be in a corp to do this, just make an alt and squad up with newberries in the academy a few hours a week when your main is capped. So far I taught an assault that if we wants to stop getting ran over, spec into AV, snipers how to help their team instead of just racking up kills and countless other players that there's more to this game than assault suits and ARs. At the same time, their enthusiasm is slowly restoring my faith in this game's future, little by little...
I already do that to an extent. My corp recruits low SP new players all the time and we do squad up with them and discuss how to play the game.
....
Yet it is not working.
Note: I am sure i suck at doing this. Just how i am wired. And i am sure you are good at it. it is how you are wired. My suggestion works because any idiot can do it....just join a faction battle instead of a pub match. Can't get easier then that. |

No thanks, I'd rather protostomp newbs in militia gear all day.
CCP needs to give us a reason to play in FW, cause I'm sure as hell not gonna willingly force myself to play what is, essentially, an inferior version of IB.
I am pretty sure FB is dynamic...as more people play it more battles come up.
Also new players will learn quickly to avoid it if vets start playing it more...clearing up room for vets to join.
But yeah you will have to wait 5 min....or you can watch the the entire game die forever. Your choice. |

Luk Manag wrote:"...stay out of PuB matches. Play faction warfare instead." That's a nice idea, but you're not doing the n00bs any favors by opting out of pub matches.
The vets will still be there on their low SP alts. There is a difference between giving noobs a challenge and giving them a 4 month climb of pointless pain. (if you have 8 million plus Sp by the way it is a wall you did not have to climb. You leveled up equally with all the other vets with no one above you stomping on your face endlessly) |

Without the "true" meta game aspect of Dust, one of the only things that people are playing for in Dust is their KDR.I would suggest taking KDR out so that people aren't constantly trying to pad their stats, but then we would lose more people than we already have. Stats should have been reset for uprising anyway since Chrome was full of so many exploits. I almost wish that FF was on 24/7 so the stat padders can STFU and start working as a team.
Shoulda woulda coulda.
CCP is not going to save this game. That much has been pointed out to us again again and again. |

No new players + small and shrinking player base = no more dust. if they aren't working on team play, then it's clear they just want to solo everything and be a one man army, which isn't all possible in this game. people need to teach them teamwork rather then what fit and skills to get. i had to learn that the hard way, but i learnt it and fill out my role just fine. I'm primarily a scout sniper, which is to support and defend, but if i need to get up close, i have a smg for that. hasn't stopped me from doing good. whenever i go into a pub game, i see my team not going for objectives a lot of the time and just go for kills or into an army of people they stand no chance against as a single unit. they haven't learnt much that this game is about team work rather then kills
*Sigh*
you are missing the point. They never get to the team play skill building. they quit before they even really start.
Plus there are lots of training corps which focus mainly on team play and squad work.
Ask them what new player retention is like.
I can tell you now their answer...it ain't good.
...
I know what being stomped by someone with 8 million more SP looks like and i know what being beat by a good squad looks like. They are not remotely the same thing....I do not want want to quit when i get beat by a good squad. |

I think they are dynamic. The faster they fill up the more that are added. In my own corp i notice when we first start joining them they are slow to pop up. Then after a game or two they pop up faster. |

I also think the benefits in eve to owning a district on the ground are only beneficial for the 1000 people that focus on that aspect of the game. If i'm not mistaken more eve stuff is on the way to help that.
I would like to see a front line per-say that we can try to push back the baddies (ie: whatever faction you are or support). Allowing us to que battles for districts/planets in our territory and start building on it to harvest minerals to build the guns we would want to deploy with. Also whenever they implement the dust corps to own districts you would want to defend it. Along with being paid by eve corps and eve players instead of just free isk. I don't want to complain about free isk and its how you start the market but I think at this stage , most of the solutions to the problems are still on the way.
This is the time period to weed out the COD from the Dust, Those that want to Beach everytime they get killed and scream on comms non stop from the methodical team killers that can stay focused and resolved in the face of "space warriors" (some pilot on eve in gallente FW Fleet) dominating your team.
Quote: most of the solutions to the problems are still on the way.
This i think is where i disagree. Many of the responses to my petition has been about small fixes to make FW better. Like better rewards. Stuff that should have been there in the first place.
Furthermore CCP already put in their fixes. They made the academy and they specifically said Faction warfare and PC would draw older players away from pub matches. It did not work and CCP has been silent on the issue ever since, only talking about all the great things older players might enjoy like new weapon variants and suits and changes to PC.
CCP is not coming to the rescue any time soon. |

No. Writing in the active voice, rather then the passive voice, is not drama. It is how to write. |
